Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) provider course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or cardiovascular emergencies. Through didactic and active participation in simulated cases, students will enhance their skills in the recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, acute arrhythmia, stroke, acute coronary syndrome and immediate post - cardiac arrest care.
The goal of the ACLS Provider course is to improve outcomes for adult patients of cardiac arrest and other cardiopulmonary emergencies through early recognition and interventions by high-performance team.
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
- Apply the Basic Life Support (BLS), Primary, and Secondary Assessment sequences for a systematic evaluation of adult patients Perform prompt, high-quality BLS, including prioritizing early chest compressions and integrating early automated external defibrillator (AED) use
- Recognize respiratory arrest
- Perform early management of respiratory arrest Discuss early recognition and management of ACS, including appropriate disposition
- Discuss early recognition and management of stroke, including appropriate disposition.
- Recognize Brady arrhythmias and tachyarrhythmia that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
- Perform early management of Brady arrhythmias and tachyarrhythmia that may result in cardiac arrest or complicate resuscitation outcome
- Recognize cardiac arrest Perform early management of cardiac arrest until termination of resuscitation or transfer of care, including immediate post-cardiac arrest care
- Evaluate resuscitative efforts during a cardiac arrest through continuous assessment of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) quality, monitoring the patient's physiologic response, and delivering real-time feedback to the team Model effective communication as a member or leader of a high-performance team
- Recognize the impact of team dynamics on overall team performance
- Discuss how the use of a rapid response team or medical emergency team may improve patient outcomes
- Define systems of care
Course Description: To help you achieve these objectives, the PALS Provider Course includes:
- BLS competency testing
- Case scenario discussions, simulations & testing stations
- A final exam
Target audience: All staff (Physicians, Nurses) working in any critical department (ER, ICU, CCU, Anesthesia Nurse…) as required by the Ministry of Public Health (Lebanese accreditation standards 2019)
